Experience the Ultimate Houseplant Extravaganza in Montana!
Magic City Plant-A-Palooza is a two-day event held in late spring and early fall at Brass Velvet Trading Co. in Billings, Montana. It brings together plant lovers and local vendors from across the area, offering everything from unique plants and rare imports to handmade art, crafts, and more.
We aim to create a fun, welcoming space for everyone who stops by. With food and drink trucks, activities for the kids, and special pop-ups like flash tattoos and permanent jewelry, there’s something for all ages and interests to enjoy.

Supporting Small Businesses and Local Vendors
Magic City Plant-A-Palooza is all about bringing people together—local vendors, small business owners, and community members—to create something special. We wanted to build more than just an event; we wanted to create a space where passionate plant lovers, makers, and entrepreneurs can connect, share their work, and support each other. It’s a chance to meet the faces behind your favorite local shops, discover new favorites, and enjoy the creative energy that makes our community so unique.
At the heart of it, this event is about lifting each other up. When we support small businesses and local vendors, we’re helping real people thrive—and in turn, strengthening our local economy. Plant-A-Palooza is our way of celebrating the amazing talent right here in our backyard, and we hope it inspires lasting connections, new friendships, and a deeper appreciation for the power of community.

Interested in Vending?
If you’re a plant lover, artist, or small business owner looking to share your work with a passionate and supportive crowd, we’d love to have you join us as a vendor at Magic City Plant-A-Palooza! There’s no vendor fee to participate, and you don’t have to be local to Montana to apply. We welcome a wide range of vendors from near and far, but we always give priority to small businesses. It’s a great way to connect with new customers, build community, and be part of a fun, vibrant event that truly celebrates creativity and local spirit.

How did Magic City Plant-A-Palooza start?
Surprisingly, Magic City Plant-A-Palooza was not the original plan or goal! During June 2024, myself and my fiance, decided to head to Billings to visit an online friend for the first time and attend the Montana Renaissance Faire in Red Lodge. We instantly fell in love with the town and the sense of community that every person in Billings seemed to have. With that short visit, we decided we would one day move there.
In preparation for the future, I decided to reach out in one of the local houseplant groups to see if anyone would be interested in attending a small plant event so I could "set our roots". That is when Jodi Fischer of Brass Velvet Trading Co. reached out and said she would love to host a houseplant event at her business.
To make the process smoother, we opened a vendor application, made an official event on social media, and set the dates. We decided on hosting a 2-day event as we saw comments on other events that the times and dates were inconvenient or people were always busy on the only day it was happening.
Seemingly overnight, the interest in the event went from a few hundred to a few thousand and we had a large number of people applying to be vendors. Before we knew it, Magic City Plant-A-Palooza was born and is now something that guests and vendors alike look forward to everytime it comes to town.
